Ferroaluminum alloy is composed of iron and aluminum (about 6% ~ 16% range) as the main elements, with high resistivity, low density, high hardness, good wear resistance, good vibration and impact resistance, so the device made of ferroaluminum alloy has small eddy current loss and light weight. However, when the aluminum content exceeds 10%, the ferroaluminum alloy becomes brittle and the plasticity decreases, which brings difficulties to the processing. The saturation magnetic induction strength of the alloy decreases with the increase of aluminum content.

1、Ferroaluminum alloy is another kind of soft magnetic alloy with high electromagnetic properties, which is mainly composed of iron and aluminum (6%~16%) and does not contain valuable elements, and is also applied in micromotors.
Commonly used iron and aluminum alloy can be cold-rolled or hot-rolled strip, sheet thickness 0.1~0.5mm. Its main characteristics are high resistivity and hardness, low density (6.5~7.2g/mm3), good vibration and impact resistance, and its magnetic properties are not as sensitive to stress as iron-nickel alloys. The core made of iron and aluminum alloy sheet has low eddy current loss, light weight and good neutron radiation resistance. When the content of aluminum exceeds 16%, the ferro-aluminum alloy becomes brittle, the plasticity is weakened, and the machining is difficult. The increase of aluminum content also reduces the saturation magnetic induction intensity. The core made of iron and aluminum alloy is the same as the iron and nickel alloy core, which needs the final high temperature annealing treatment to eliminate the stress and improve the magnetic properties.
2、Commonly used iron and aluminum alloy models are 1J6, 1J12 and 1J16. The last number in the model is the aluminum content. With the increase of the aluminum content, the permeability and resistivity of the material become higher, and the saturation magnetic induction intensity decreases.
3、Fe-aluminum alloy is a solid solution structure of aluminum dissolved in α-iron, body-centered cubic structure, which can form two different types of ordered phase structure Fe3Al and FeAl. There is no order-disorder transition when Al content < 9.6wt.%; When 9.6 ~ 19.4wt.%, Fe3Al order-disorder transition exists.
4、Low aluminum (<6wt.%) alloy is similar to the equivalent Fe-Si alloy, easy processing, good corrosion resistance, no order-disorder transition, magnetic stability, stress insensitive.
5、 Low aluminum alloy is used as micromotor, solenoid valve, magnetic shielding material.
6、High aluminum alloy can partially replace Fe-Ni Permalloy, used as medium frequency transformer, transducer head and so on.
