Silica-calcium-manganese alloy is a commonly used additive for deoxidation and desulphurization of molten steel. This is because the product of their joint deoxidation is manganese silicate, and the activity of silicon in manganese silicate is much lower than that of silicon in silicon dioxide, the only product of silicon deoxidation. However, the practice suggests that manganese improves the deoxidation effect of silicon, and decreases with the increase of silicon content. Therefore, it is very necessary to make scientific and reasonable allocation of the element content of the existing silicon calcium manganese alloy, reduce the silicon content and increase the manganese content under the condition of basically stable calcium content, so as to improve the comprehensive technical and economic indicators of the silicon calcium manganese alloy.
